Tommie Smith and John Carlos Influenced History

Tommie Smith and John Carlos influenced history. On Wednesday, Game On! blogger Tom Weir wrote about Tommie Smith sold his 1968 gold medal in the 200 meters. Smith and John Carlos put the world on its ear when using the medal ceremony to protest the racial problems in America. Immediately vilified for his actions, the duo finally becomes the hero of the civil rights movement for his black-gloved salute during the Star Spangled Banner.

Many have forgotten the role that Smith and Carlos played. But this tax, when they had the Arthur Ashe Courage Award in 2008, is a history lesson (and large).
