Metro North Fire
Metro North Fire, The fire broke out around 11.38 that morning in Manhattan, New York. Flames and smoke were observed under a railway bridge is 132 Street and the train of the Metro-North was closed for several hours and out of Grand Central Terminal. According to firefighters in New York City Fire Department had no injuries. Marjorie Anders, a spokeswoman for Metro-North Service said the fire under a bridge of steel and cement caused an explosion next to the monitor processor. Explosion ignited the piles intended to protect against damage caused by shipping.
This particular bridge when the explosion occurred today was built by the New York, New Haven and Hartford Railroad. The 138th Street Bridge was constructed in 1950. According to officials investigated techbical was ordered to establish the exact cause of the fire and to determine if the explosion had damaged the steel structure of the bridge.
