Gross Domestic Product in Q2 2010 with Record Growth
Wiesbaden (ots) – The German economy is catching up fast: In the second quarter of 2010, gross domestic product (GDP) – price, seasonal and calendar adjustment – 2.2% higher than in the first quarter, notify the Federal Statistical Office (Destatis) with . Such growth was the previous quarter, it never in a united Germany. Moreover, the result for the first quarter of 2010 was significantly revised upwards to 0.5% + now. The turn of the year 2009/2010 stalled recovery of the German economy has returned so impressive.
In the last year has increased the economic and strong: The price-adjusted GDP grew in the second calendar quarter of 2010 versus the second quarter of 2009 by 4.1% (: + 3.7%).
Positive contributions in the previous quarter (price, seasonal and calendar) from both the domestic and from abroad. The dynamics of investment and foreign trade had the largest amount in the upswing, but also the private and public consumption spending contributed to growth of GDP.
The economic performance in the second quarter of 2010 was achieved by 40.3 million workers in Germany, which were 72 000 persons or 0.2% more than a year ago.
In addition to the initial calculation of the second quarter have been to this event – as every year in August – including the previously published results of the last four years (from 2006) revised (revisions in seasonally and calendar-adjusted results from 1991).
The current recalculations resulted in rates of annual and quarterly unadjusted figures of GDP, which differ by up to 0.4 percentage points from the previously published results. The rates of change of the seasonally and calendar-adjusted results were also – by up to 0.3 percentage points – revised. In particular, the growth rates of GDP for the quarters and the year 2008, for which results were available for the first time an annual basis, statistics have been partly revised substantially downwards. For the crisis in 2009 showed, however a more favorable development than previously published (see table in annex). The relatively large corrections are related to the recent past in the volatile economy, making it difficult to estimate at the current end.
Such continuous revisions are carried out routinely to integrate newly available statistical information into the calculations. The calculation of GDP is thus made successively to a statistically always better sound data base. The finale for a “” Calculation of the results of National Accounts (SNA) necessary basic statistics are completely at the latest after four years, so that only the results are final and no longer have to be revised regularly.
More detailed results are the Federal Statistical Office on 24 August 2010 known.
