Bishop Brazier
Bishop Brazier, pastor of prominent Chicago civil rights lawyer, died at the age of the 89th Bishop Brazier died of prostate cancer. He was diagnosed with the disease five years ago. Brazier was pastor emeritus of the Apostolic Church of God. Dr. Byron Brazier, pastor of the church today and the son of Bishop, issued a statement, “Bishop’s passing represents a great loss for my family, our church and our community. We will really miss him. Nevertheless, we mourn his death and celebrate his life with dignity and grace as he was known.”
President Obama will also react to the death of the bishop. He made a statement on Friday: “Michelle and I were deeply saddened to learn of our travels my dear friend, courageous in the city of Chicago and a major player morale of the country, Bishop Arthur M. Bishop Brazier. Bishop was an Army veteran and attended Moody Bible Institute before becoming a pastor in 1952. He was also a founder of Woodlawn Organization, which has played an important role in the Chicago civil rights movement in 1960.
