Afghan Girl Secret
Afghan girl is the title of a single original photograph taken by Steve McCurry in the extreme. A photograph of an Afghan girl terror investigation has become extremely popular among McCurry when he hit the cover of National Geographic in 1985. McCurry captured the first image of the girl on his trip to Afghanistan in 1984 before the Soviet offensive. The girl with green eyes, was in a refugee camp near Peshawar, and said “put a human face on the brutal conflict”.
When the image of Afghan girl became popular, McCurry decided he wanted to go back and find the girl. “I was trying to find his whole 90 chapters. Since we did not have his name, it was very difficult, as you can imagine. The woman, girl, you know that it was just a very difficult and complicated and almost … impossible”, McCurry told CNN.
Only 9 / 11 happened, that McCurry made considerable efforts to find a woman without a name. “It was very exciting. We were really surprised. It was like a miracle to find it and finally be able to help”, he told CNN. Afghan Girl is currently on display at Birmingham Museum and Art Gallery as well as many other famous songs made McCurry.
